Jean-Francois Peters
Jean-François Peters obtained his law degree at the ‘Université Catholique de Louvain’ in 1990.
In 1991, he did his military service as a reserve officer in the Belgian Navy. After a short period as a legal adviser at a professional association, he began his internship at the Antwerp Bar in 1992.
In 1993, Jean-François obtained a special licence in Maritime Science from the University of Antwerp and participated in the Maritime Law Short Course at the University of Southampton.
He also obtained a Master of Laws in Commercial Law (option: Shipping Law) from the University of Cape Town in 1995.
Jean-François is a member of the Belgian Maritime Law Association (BVZ).
He has published several legal articles as author or co-author in the areas of CMR, road transport and ship arrest.
Jean-François has also contributed for many years to the ‘Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht’ and to the compilation of the Larcier law books.
In addition, he is also a member of the editorial committee of the journal European Transport Law.
Jean-François is fluently bilingual in his mother tongues Dutch and French.
Furthermore, Jean-François also speaks and writes in English, German and Italian.
